Infobulletin-Paquin Vol.-7
Sommaire
A word from the webmaster
Six months have elapsed since the last Paquin Infobulletin. A lot of work was accomplished during this period. Here’s a reminder in chronological order.
July 2009, first Paquin Family reunion under the Ancêtres Famille Paquin banner. The participants were pleased to meet cousins coming from Alberta, U.S.A. and Québec. Friendly ties developed and will be maintained through Internet. Thank you to all the participants. You are invited to view all the pictures on the site.
September 2009, a decision must be made, the dictionary website is too slow and hard to administer. The site is transferred to “Hébergement Web Canada” located in Montréal. Many weeks of work are needed to fulfil the task.
October 2009, the beginning of correcting names of places in the dictionary. From now on names of places will have to be written in the following manner (commas are essential): towns, county, province and country. Here’s three examples: (You will note that the name of the county is not known for number 2 and 3. This is why the name of the city is followed by a comma , then a space and another comma.)
1.Deschambault, Portneuf, Québec, Canada
2.Québec, , Québec, Canada
3.Lowell, , Massachusetts, USA
November 2009, the set up of a new picture gallery with the scanning of hundreds of photos and slides. Same will be accessible in 2010.
December 2009, Infobulletin preparation and completion of the preceding items.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Over the years I have been searching PAQUIN place names in North America. I have found streets, parks, rivers & buildings named after some notable PAQUINs.
I have a collection of Paquin place names in Quebec & I want to put them on our Paquin website. I need your help. I need some French-speaking or bilingual volunteers for some research. I need you to contact , by the Internet if possible, the city, town or municipal office & ask them after whom the particular Paquin place was named & their biography if available. A collaborator Jean-Paul Paquin of Gatineau, Que. has supplied the contacts for each of these places to help you get started.
For example the city of La Tuque has a Carre Paquin or Paquin square. Which citizen was this Carre/square named after? What did he do to merit this distinction?
We need volunteers for the following towns/municipalities:
- you can pick one or two & let me know which they are & I will co-ordinate this project. - I can also provide a sample email letter in French, for your use to send to the town/municipality

Closing statement
Site contribution
One more time you are requested to make the Ancêtres Famille Paquin site “The genealogical reference” by participating in the following manner:
1.Keep me posted on births with pictures, if possible, and let me know if you authorize the publication of the photography on the site.
2.Keep me posted on deaths by providing me with a copy of the notice or card showing the deceased.
3.Provide me with a biography, an address made by a family member. It could be an address made at a wedding anniversary.
4.Send me duplicate funeral cards instead of discarding same. It also applies to family photographies.
5.Finally, give some serious thoughts about making a financial contribution to help maintain the site alive and healthy. Only contributions allow me to finance the housing of the site, the acquisition of specialized software to operate the site along with office supplies. Such contributions will also serve to restore the monument as early as next summer. The first phase was completed last July 2009, a lot of work remains to be done to solidify the monument and make it waterproof. My brother Claude is helping me do this work at no cost. However, the material is not for free. Your contribution is a must in order to preserve this monument to the memory of our ancestors. Do not hesitate, make a contribution now!
The team consisting of Helen, Jean-Paul, Liliane, Maureen and myself (Jean-Marie) would like to wish all of you Happy Holidays!
