Rivière-Ouelle

Rivière-Ouelle is a small locality of more than 1,584 inhabitants situated on the river of the same name about 80 miles upriver from Quebec on the St. Lawrence River in Kamouraska County. The name was probably given in honor of a fellow countryman of Champlain, Mr. Duel, controller general of the salt works of Brouage, member of the Company of One Hundred and one of the known benefactors of the Récollets Missionaries.
