Saturday, August
20, 2022, for the 80th anniversary of Operation Jubilee, we were in
Saint-Nicolas d'Aliermont, at the “Musée de l'Horlogerie” to meet Nicolas Paquin and Léandre Marsolais accompanied by his mother... and the historian who
found G. Audet's helmet.
It is with great
emotion that we had the joy of meeting Nicolas Paquin, Léandre and his mother
to tell us the story of the helmet of Gilbert Audet, great-grandfather of
Léandre... (to look at the photos on Facebook [Musée de l'Horlogerie de
Saint-Nicolas d'Aliermont].
I am also sending
you some pictures...
We would like to
share with our cousins in Canada these very moving moments and congratulations
to Nicolas who is doing a tremendous job for the memory of all the young
Canadian volunteers who came to France in 1942. Dead, prisoners and all the
volunteers, we owe them this testimony. The France remains grateful and once
again we ourselves are impressed to see all that the department of Seine Maritime
has achieved as a gathering since March in memory of this Jubilee.
Saint-Nicolas
d'Aliermont erected a monument for the Canadian prisoners who were arrested and
"camped" in this small village. On Saturday there was a
large delegation to this monument.
