Paul-Émile Paquin

Paul-Emile had a career in more than one field: at the age of 20 he established himself as a foreman in a major glass factory at Saint-Laurent, near Montreal; in the world of construction he attained the superintendent’s rank. (Charles Lemoyne Hospital in Greenfield Park, on the south shore of Montreal); in the insurance industry, he worked as an agent for the Société des Artisans, a company that was later merged with the Mutuelle des Coopérants before the acquisition by Industrial Alliance.

Returning to school at the age of 41, he began his political career as a school trustee and became the teacher’s boss. A few years later he was appointed president of the Jacques-Cartier School Board in Longueuil.

On the municipal scene, Paul-Emile represented the citizens of his Longueuil neighbourhood from 1970 to 1974, then from 1978 to 1982.

A deeply Christian and philanthropist, our deceased, Vice-President of our Association of Paquin Families, generously assisted in many parish and diocesan activities (L'Action catholique, les Foyers Notre-Dame…).

Who says Faith and Valour, says Paul-Emile Paquin

In 1981, in keeping with our association’s motto, he and his entire family committed to organizing a two-day conference in Longueuil. We all remember his dynamism and his pride in making us live unforgettable days in his city. It was he who had taken out the little train “La balade de l’Expo “67 to show Longueuil to the Paquin taking part in this meeting. Even seriously ill, Paul-Emile made it his duty to attend the annual meetings of the Paquin.
