Who is Marius Paquin, whom we knew as treasurer of the Association des Familles Paquin Inc. during the organisation of the association in the 1980s?
From 1950 to 1980, Brother Pasteur sc (Victor Paquin) held all the positions, but at the Paquin meeting in Shawinigan, it was decided to structure AFP Inc. and it was on this occasion that the services of Marius Paquin were used.
Born in St-Tite, Laviolette, he received his primary education at the Grand-Rang school. His mother, a former student of the Ursulines, saw him preparing for the priesthood, which led him to classical studies at the Séminaire Saint-Joseph de Trois-Rivières, but his choice was rather to study mechanics at the Université de Montréal.
After short stays in Shawinigan and Sherbrooke, the mechanical engineer and his wife Francine Bernier established their residence in Sainte-Foy and Marius chose to put his knowledge to the benefit of the Cie Vachon where he worked until his retirement. In collusion with the Director-General, his influence extended to England, Germany and Japan. Proud of his achievements, and lucidly, he could say the day before his death: Mission accomplished! At 82 years old, I am happy with what I have done and I am leaving happy!”
